As a child, Larisa Aukon attended Janis Rosenthal’s Fine Art Secondary School in Latvia and was later accepted into the prestigious Latvian Academy of Fine Arts, thoroughly training in the Soviet Realist style. She graduated six years later with her Masters. Aukon has found much success in painting in her bold colorist style characterized by strong compositions, simple geometry and masterful color palettes.
She moved to Boston in 1996 but was commissioned to work on a project in Arizona. She now resides and teaches painting in Flagstaff. She strives to capture the vibrancy of the red sandstone, clear blue skies and deep shadows. She is well-known for her vibrant still lifes.
Larisa was featured in the ″Emerging Artists″ section of the March, 2010 issue of Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine. Her solo exhibition, ″Short Stories″ was previewed in the March, 2010 issue of Amercian Art Collector.
Aukon has paintings in numerous private and public collections in the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Russia, and Latvia.
