Katie Stearns grew up in Bayonne, New Jersey, eleven miles southwest of lower Manhattan.  As a child and teenager, Katie was extremely artistic, taking great joy in painting, drawing, and other creative activities.

Katie’s full-time artistic pursuit evolved from her experiences in business and healthcare.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University in New Jersey and worked for several years in Investment Banking on Wall Street.  She then earned a Master of Science Degree in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics from New York University and ran her own nutrition consulting firm.

With the intent of living life more creatively, Katie launched her full-time artistic career in January, 2001.  Subsequently, she has studied oil painting with numerous nationally recognized artists at Scottsdale Artists’ School, in Scottsdale Arizona.

Katie has been juried into numerous fine art shows and was awarded a merit scholarship from Scottsdale Artists’ School.  Katie also teaches oil painting classes at the Via Linda Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Nationally, Katie is a member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists.  In Arizona, she is a juried member of both the Arizona Art Alliance and the Sonoran Arts League.  She is also a member of Scottsdale Artists’ League.

Katie moved to Arizona in 1995 and currently resides in the foothills north of Scottsdale.
